Experience Summary
I tutored high school students in the American International School in Dhaka, Bangladesh, focusing primarily on writing skills. I substitute taught in English and English as a Second Language classes at the same school.
I also substitute taught in Poudre School District, Fort Collins, CO for four years.
For the last eight years, I have been a writing coach and composition aide for Poudre School District, Fort Collins, CO. In that capacity, I give students detailed feedback on their writing.
Teaching Style
I first determine the skill level of the student, then give instruction according to their current level. In some cases, that includes starting at the basics of writing a good sentence. I give students detailed verbal and written critique and feedback on their writing. I help them through the editing/rewrite process, showing them the improvements as they go. I encourage them to read quality literature and pay attention to the writing. I teach them to read their writing out loud, to proofread, rewrite, and have someone review their writing before turning it in.
