Experience Summary
I have always been driven as a student. I earned my bachelor's degree in only 3 and a half years, and I will begin a terminal degree program this fall when I begin an MFA program at Eastern Washington University. Although I have never been a formal tutor, I feel that I can pick it up rather quickly, as I have been in a teaching role during my time as a personal trainer. I have also had creative work published in the last four editions of The Brushfire, and I have served as the editor of the newsletter of the last company for which I worked.
Teaching Style
I am very passionate about English, partly because I struggled with it myself. I never received an A in a high school English class until my senior year; yet, I received a BA in the subject only four short years after I received a D- in my AP English class during the second semester of my junior year in high school. I can relate to these students and their struggles because I was once in their shoes. I know what it takes to overcome the adversity facing these students and I am looking forward to using that knowledge to help them succeed.
