Experience Summary
As a first-generation college student, I am very much driven to achieve a high level of academic achievement as well as to succeed by graduating with my Doctorate's Degree. I have earned my Associate's in Psychology/Sociology and presently working on my Bachelor's in Psychology. I am excited about graduating early in the Fall of 2008 with my Bachelor's and beginning my Master's in Counseling and my Master's in Business Administration in the Spring of 2009. Afterwards, I hope to earn my Master's in Elementary Education and my Doctorate's in Clinical Psychology. My passion for teaching and helping the younger and older generations has encouraged me to become a Sunday school teacher at my local church, which I have been for four years. As well, I am private tutor to families of need and am now in my fourth year of tutoring mathematics, history, English and psychology. Recently, I accepted a peer advisor position on my college campus where I am an English/Writing tutor in the Student Success Center Writing Lab. In addition, I have learned extensive grammatical and technical writing skills due to writing research papers and pre-graduate level of writing assignments in many various areas of study.
Teaching Style
Working with children has always been my passion and goal, as I love teaching and helping children of all ages. I believe that the childhood is one of the most important factors in an individual's life, where growth in learning and understanding is a critical building block for their life. Children, being diverse and unique in various ways, each have an individual learning method. If found and applied to the manner of teaching, then the child has a higher chance of reaching their full potential as an individual. I am very patient, loving, considerate, and easy going. One of my joys in teaching is being able to broaden a child's foundation of understanding and opening their eyes in order to facilitate their own skills and manner of learning in the real-world. I strive to not only make a difference in my student's lives, but to encourage and motivate their own understanding and love of the world around them.
