Experience Summary
Having had the opportunity to attend Rhode Island College, I was able to learn the most current and effective tools for classroom teaching. I earned my BS in Elementary Education and have had much experience in the classroom teaching various subjects ranging from Science and Math to Social Studies and Reading. In addition I have also had the opportunity to teach overseas in China for a summer, where my students learned English and Communication skills. All of these vast and diverse experiences add to my pedagogy and create a greater dynamic to my teaching style. Lastly during my student teaching I had the opportunity to work in an inclusion classroom where I learned how to adapt my teaching styles to the various needs of different level learners, which was an invaluable opportunity for me.
Teaching Style
I love teaching and helping students to achieve their education goals. I like to make learning memorable and fun for my students and I encourage critical thinking, analyses, and problem solving over rote memorization. In addition, I recognize Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences, and in order to ensure I reach all of the students I teach I use various vehicles of communication whether it be visually, kinesthetically, orally, and so forth.
