Experience Summary
As an undergraduate I majored in English and also completed the secondary education program. I completed my student teaching assignment at a local high school in Colorado Springs and taught remedial English to students who had failed the class at least once prior. I then went to graduate school and earned my MA in English and entered the corporate world of education and training. My background is primarily in training adults but my passion for learning and pedagogy, as well as my personality that encourages and builds esteem, make me an excellent candidate for beginning a career as a tutor.
Teaching Style
I believe that literature and English provide skills for living a fulfilling and productive life. My love of literature has helped me become an accomplished trainer and educator. As a tutor and trainer I believe in bringing passion and patience to the table. I also understand that most people learn in a variety of ways -- seeing, hearing and doing. But, with kids, I know that learning can be accelerated by a teacher or tutor that cares and keeps things fun.
