Experience Summary
While pursuing my Masters in biology, I managed a molecular biology laboratory in which I not only conducted research experiments, but also trained graduate students and post-doc students on laboratory techniques and protocols. Additionally, I taught comparative anatomy labs and embryology labs to undergraduates. My tutoring experience was primarily with high school students in the areas of geometry, algebra, Spanish, and sciences. I feel confident in my abilities to tutor at any grade level.
Teaching Style
As a teacher/tutor it is important to look for the ways in which a child learns and processes information. I believe in helping students gain the answers and look for solutions with as little handholding as possible - that is to say I encourage them to find the correct answers/solutions by asking them step-wise questions, from different angles, to arrive at the solution. I believe in this way, they "get it" and feel more confident in their abilities.
