Experience Summary
As top graduate of the University of Tennessee for work in humanities/mathematics and valedictorian in the mathematics department, I carry a great breadth of mathematical coursework and equally extensive experiences in tutoring material of all levels. I have over seven years of experience in all sectors of the tutoring industry (consumer-directed, state-operated, home-school, and nonprofit) and possess an unparalleled knowledge of the means, methods, and strategies necessary for ensuring student success in each of these arenas. Additionally, I am widely recognized as an international leader in the exploration of mathematical aspects of wave-based phenomena and a national leader in the search for efficient means to factor super-sparse, high-degree polynomials.
My work in non-profit tutoring garnered the highest honor in Middle Tennessee volunteerism (the Mary Catherine Strobel Award), and my services have been requested by African Union member-states, international development organizations, the State of Tennessee, and numerous local organizations.
Teaching Style
Pedagogy is the queen art and the most subtle science; like all creative endeavors, it involves a comfortable, mutual dialogue between the teacher and the taught in which both parties are effectively equal partners in the engagement and negotiation of the subject at hand. No truly transformative teaching is less than a journey, rich with surprises, in which student and teacher sojourn to the heart of great truths and discover the resolve to meet challenges and obstacles to learning with unfettered exuberance and eternal patience. Caring, kindness, and encouragement are the marrow of the relation; joy, together with accomplishment the twin results. There is no shortcut to great teaching but genuine caring, and the crafting of an individualized plan of study for each particular student. I employ this advice, and adapt integrated plans for student success based upon careful research and sophisticated, individualized assessment techniques.
