Experience Summary
I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Clemson University in May of 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. I completed a wide variety of methods classes and classroom observations, as well as practicum and student teaching in 5th and 2nd grade respectively. Through these experiences, I learned to develop ADEPT lesson plans that are content and developmentally appropriate for the age group I am teaching, as well as ways to differentiate learning to suit the needs of each student.
Teaching Style
Being that I work in a Title 1 school with a high ESOL population, I give my students as many hands-on experiences as possible. I use a lot of differentiation to meet the needs of all academic levels in my classroom (emergent readers-9th grade level). ELA, and especially writing, is my strongest subject, though I teach all subjects to my 5th graders. I believe in the power of encouragement, and that by having faith in a child, they in turn, will learn to have faith in themselves.
