Teaching Style
Providing educational support services is a continual, developmental process. Just as employees and students change, so should the support services that are available. Services should be flexible and diverse while at the same time maintaining the highest level of quality.
Strong educational supports will promote critical thinking and skill development in its students. It will offer variety, through complex learning environments and barrier-free opportunities. Additionally effective support services will address the whole student, from a personal perspective, offering assistance with non-academic issues that will allow the student to perform and achieve at his/her greatest capacity.
Creativity, consistency and collaborative efforts from a support service arena will enhance the likelihood for success at all levels. Through innovative and continually evaluated services, a diverse student body will be afforded the experience of academic and social value.
Educational support services, in my view, should be provided in a team fashion. Critical components of a support service program would include monitoring, assessment, mentoring, advising and intervention. Offering such services in a manner that promotes learning, thinking, communication and interaction would support the desired outcomes of the student, while at the same time offering invaluable personal growth opportunities for its community of learners.
