Experience Summary
I earned a BA and MA in English, which provided me the necessary knowledge to teach literature and writing, and have taken a variety of educational courses that have helped me be a successful tutor and teacher. Additionally, I have experience teaching and tutoring students in a variety of settings including high schools, community colleges, and four-year universities. I have also provided online essay center tutoring to high school and college students in a variety of disciplines including English, history, science, psychology, social work, and the arts. I am proficient in teaching necessary grammatical skills and the writing process. Furthermore, I am a published writer and continue to work on my own writing in hopes of gaining additional publications.
Teaching Style
I believe all students can learn and achieve academic success. As a patient and caring teacher and tutor, I understand that learning is an individual process, so I create lessons, assignments, activities, and environments conducive to each individual student's learning. Furthermore, in addition to teaching students necessary skills to help them achieve academic success, I find it is also important to provide praise and recognition to students for each level of success they acquire. This shows them that they can learn and be successful academically.
