Experience Summary
As a graduate of Washington and Jefferson College, I had the opportunity to work in small work group settings and learned the value of tutoring firsthand. throughout high school, I had the opportunity to tutor younger students in first and second grade. Upon graduation, I was able to return to my old school and teach high school students how to excel in public speaking and forensic debate. These experiences have had a profound impact on my life. During college, I learned the value of writing through my experience as a columnist for the college newspaper and through years of extensive term papers. I would love to have a positive impact on a young student so that they may have the same experiences that I was able to have.
Teaching Style
I believe it is important to understand that every child is a different, and a different approach is necessary for them to each achieve their highest potential. I believe that every student can be taught to strive for their best, no matter what the circumstance. It is important to get to know each of your students and embrace their differences, and furthermore, to treat them with respect and kindness. All it takes is that one teacher to motivate a child to succeed, and if I could have that impact on one child, then it would be worth it.
