Experience Summary
Although I am a native French speaker I completed the last two years of high school and subsequently college in the United States. I earned a degree in French because I wanted to be able to teach some day. That some day has been long in coming but is here now, I believe, and I am seeking that opportunity. I thought French laboratory and tutored French in college. I have worked many jobs since college that required me to work both in French and English. I have worked in Belgium, where I was born, in French West Africa and in Quebec Province in Canada. I speak French and English like a native.
Teaching Style
After graduating college I worked for many years in international public relations and, in fact, acted informally as a translator and simultaneous interpreter for colleagues who did not speak the language. Later, as a middle manager and then a senior executive, I became a coach and mentor to many young professionals whose careers I launched or championed. My firm belief is that knowledge is information put in context. When it comes to teaching I believe any knowledge can be put into context -- and for younger pupils preferably in a way that is engaging or even fun. That is my style in a nutshell: put it in context and make it interesting.
