Experience Summary
Due to my love of reading and writing I have chosen to pursue a degree in the Classics at Whitman College. In 2007 I was asked by a professor to privately tutor another student in Latin. I joined the team at the Academic Resource Center and have been tutoring college students in English and other writing-intensive courses ever since. Meanwhile I have continued my own education in grammar, English, linguistics, and completed essays, creative work, and research papers in various subjects.
Teaching Style
I became a tutor at the request of a professor, and this work has led me to discover the joys of teaching. I love assisting students with reading and writing and helping them to find in themselves ability, confidence, and enthusiasm. I am passionate about working with students to find methods of studying that work for them, as well as helping their academic work by addressing other issues such as social pressures, learning disabilities, and lack of motivation. I am committed to giving my students a new-found sense of strength and self reliance, as well as being a mentor and friend.
