Experience Summary
As a daughter of a college professor, I was raised to respect education and its many benefits. I have earned two degrees, a Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in English and a Masters of Nursing. Both of these degrees has enabled me to gain an understanding in the humanities and in the social and life sciences. In addition, I have learned extensive grammatical skills due to my college Writing courses, due to writing research papers and care plans, and due to writing free-lance for the newspaper of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. During the last 12 years, I have tutored freshmen college students in writing, and I have taught a fourth grade religion class, natural family planning to young adults, and a reproductive health class to young teenage mothers.
Teaching Style
I enjoy teaching, especially with children ages 12 and older. I believe that all children have the ability to learn if they are given the chance and the support to do so. I am patient and understanding, and I am a good listener. My goal is to not only provide the best education possible but also to communicate the love and passion that I have for learning. I like to teach through illustration, examples and analogies where appropriate. However, I do believe in showing students the steps, proper methods, and procedures, when solving problems that will lead them to make their own discoveries and gather information independently.
