Experience Summary
As a graduate of an all women's college and, subsequently, the University of Michigan, I am a fastidious worker who cares a great deal about the strides that I am able to make. As a graduate student instructor and mentor, I have learned to treat each student in my care as a unique individual whose learning styles dictated my efforts to teach them. I am a strong teacher in front of groups of students and, more importantly, a strong teacher one on one. I have had experience with college students as well as preschool students and elementary school students, and I thoroughly enjoy working with all of these groups of individuals.I entered the University of Michigan to complete a Doctorate in Developmental Psychology, and hold standing as an ABD candidate. As such, I have developed strong writing skills that I can utilize in order to help others learn how to write. While in graduate school, my main focus was to learn about how preschool children learn to read, and the role that adults play in this process. I am available to tutor students in both psychology, developmental psychology, and reading and writing. I am also open to working with children of all ages.
Teaching Style
Over the years that I have worked with children and young adults, I have cultivated a love for the art of teaching. It is my belief that all children are equipped with the ability to learn, and that it is our job to figure out how best to teach them. That said, I strongly believe that different students have different learning styles, and that we must address those styles in order to ensure that they succeed. It is my mission to make sure that I am able to reach and succesfully teach as many students as possible, and to do a high quality job of doing so. I truly believe that good teachers can have a life long impact on the learning and success of the individuals whom they work with, and I strive to make this sort of difference in the lives of learners - both young and old.
