Experience Summary
I have a solid foundation in secondary English and collegiate English, Education, and Women's Studies. In addition to ten years teaching experience at both the middle and high school levels, I have developed and taught curriculum for numerous colleges, including University of Detroit Mercy, East Tennessee State University, and Northwest State Community College. With seven years collegiate teaching experience, I possess adept grammatical skills and can instruct virtually any form of writing. I have tutored students in English Literature, composition, technical writing, as well as academic writing for sciences, social sciences, business, and the humanities.
Teaching Style
The student always comes first in my classroom. Although the curriculum and concepts are important, what is essential is encouraging students to succeed and creating a safe environment conducive to learning. By mutual respect and positive feedback, I am able to create a rapport with my students that allow them to take risks without fear of complete failure. Once students feel secure to take risks, they are able to learn and thrive gaining both confidence and academic skills.
