Experience Summary
I am fun and creative, hard working, very patient and level-headed and highly organized. I am highly literate and very articulate. As a high school student I excelled in several Advanced Placement English and Literature classes. In college I majored in anthropology with a focus on linguistics. I also have experience as a private English and reading tutor. Additionally, I feel that my background in experiential and alternative education has given me a unique skill set for working with students for whom a traditional academic approach may not be effective.
Teaching Style
As an outdoor educator and teacher I have had substantial experience in education and leadership. I find a great deal of fulfillment in teaching new skills and working with students to solve problems and achieve goals. It is my personal philosophy that, given a constructive and nurturing environment, positive role models and an emphasis on personal responsibility, every child can excel, enjoy learning and discover his/her individual strengths. I believe in educating the whole child and encouraging students to take an active role in their own education.
