Experience Summary
As a graduate of the University of Washington's English program, I have studied a variety of concepts and theory in literature and critical analysis. I have extensive experience in writing a wide range of papers as well as editing my peers and my own writing. I have been fortunate to tutor several students in my area in mathematics, English, arts and sciences. I have also lead a team in providing a reading mentorship in Port Elizabeth, South Africa while re-organizing their library. My experience in written and oral storytelling has also enabled me to work in an afterschool program teaching young students how to organize and perform their own stories.
Teaching Style
I believe education should enrich and engage a students mind. I work very hard to make connections for what students are learning to what they are passionate about. Through strong encouragement and support, I make an effort to give students confidence while challenging them to move forward and deepen their understanding. I strive to give students the means they need to take pride in their work. I have seen so many students flourish after having someone re-explain a concept in a way that makes sense to them. I am willing to put the time and energy it takes to find the explanation that works best for each student. I believe all my students can succeed in their lives.
