Experience Summary
I've been an avid, life-long reader and writer. I never intended to become a teacher until I began to work with children who have autism. My passion to work with kids, and teach, started in those first few moments that I saw my clients make progress. Due to my background, I have a strong grasp of the conventions of writing and an inherent ability to assist others in learning how to comprehend texts. While completing my teaching certification, I tutor four different students in various aspects of English. As a final note: During my student teaching, I taught an SAT Preparation course for one and one-half quartiles.
Teaching Style
Through my independent studies, and the theories of teaching that I've learned, I know that students learn in different ways. I am a staunch believer in the teacher making any and all necessary adaptations to help students reach their and my maximal expectations. Beyond the skills that a student must possess to attain their goals and succeed, the teacher must first instill a sense of worth and inspiration to drive the student. Whether it is a better grade or just the intrinsic value of learning something, all students must be given something to strive for. I hope to truly teach all of the students that I will encounter in my lifetime some sort of skill that will be of true value to them.
