Experience Summary
Graduating from a liberal arts univeristy with a Bachelor's degree in Biology along with a minor in Chemistry has provided for me an incredibly well rounded educational experience. I have a solid understanding of the the natural sciences along with comprehensive lab experience in anatomy, physiology, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, along with other disciplines. As a Junior and Senior I found it very rewarding to help the younger students grasp biochemical concepts.
Teaching Style
Since I find Biochemical processes so exciting, it is easy for me to get other students excited about them as well. Many students feel that the sciences are boring and dull. However, when I explain the processes to the students in their own terms instead of the textbooks they begin to realize that it can be fun! The first step to getting a student to understand the natural sciences is to spark some interest. This can be done through visual aids, models and a variety of other non-tradtional approaches.
