Experience Summary
For the past two years, I have served a mathematics tutor for 5th-8th grade students. Through my involvement with my fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated.,i have participated in various tutoring opportunities. I have worked as a GED prep tutor at the Martha O'Bryan Center, a high school tutor for students at Pearl Cohn High School, and a private tutor for a high schooler at John Paul II High School.
Teaching Style
East Academy is a multiple intelligence based school that makes learning adaptable based on the way students learn best. I feel that this individualistic approach is key to making sure that all students can achieve academically. I would say that my teaching style models this behavior and takes a more analytical approach to understanding the learning abilities of the students that I work with. I think a good teacher takes time to do diagnostic testing to see a students' strengths and weaknesses. With high expectations and meeting student's where they are academically, any student can make major advances in their academic pursuits
