Experience Summary
I earned a Bachelors degree in Chemistry and a minor in Biochemistry ins 2007 from the University of Colorado. I attended the University of Hawaii briefly where I was a teaching assistant for freshman level general chemistry lab. I taught lab, prepared quizzes, tests, and oversaw the general safety of my students. I also during this same time worked in the tutorial room where students of all levels of chemistry could come in with questions regarding homework, quizzes, and questions prior to the exam.
Teaching Style
I believe in teaching by example. I know especially in chemistry, examples help see the proper technique and variables needed to solve the problem. I feel that if a student is memorizing an equation but does not understand the process of finding and filling in variables, this will not help them get to the correct answer. A student need to dissect the equation in order to understand what exactly a problem is looking for. It took me many year to understand this process, but once I did I found that I could solve almost any problem that was presented to me in the field of chemistry. I hope to pass this knowledge on to my students.
