Experience Summary
Although I have pursued academic studies with a variety of institutions, I am a very avid and enthusiastic self-learner and I think this is one of the key attributes of a successful tutor. I am an excellent writer and communicator and I have a wide variety of expertise (from music, history, and English, to Literature and international relations). I have worked as teacher and academic mentor for over eight years now and I have found it to be an extremely rewarding experience. Whether your student needs instruction in the Humanities or the Social Sciences, I am more than willing to offer my experience and enthusiasm to help them achieve their highest potential.
Teaching Style
Learning is a lifelong adventure in pursuit of truth. In following the example of Socrates, a teacher must realize that the wisest among us are those who are keenly aware of their own lack of knowledge. It is not a coincidence that eager learners make the best teachers. Because education is primarily concerned with the development of human beings, it cannot ignore the fundamental importance of personal relationships. I believe that an effective teacher must carefully analyze the personality, attitudes, and goals of students in order to better understand how to motivate and communicate with them. The most effective way to stimulate learning is not through providing more and more data, but rather by developing a personal and unique approach that reaches students where they are. A teacher should seek to follow the example of effective mentoring demonstrated by the great Teachers of the past.
