I have always encouraged my students to see me for extra help and so have often tutored these intereted individuals.
Teaching Style
Tutoring is not the same as classroom teaching. The first requirement is to clearly identify what the student is interested in gaining from the sessions. Then it is necessary to evaluate his/her skills needed to acheive this goal. It is most important to terrace instruction which will reinforce the student's strenghts as they add on new understanding in context with what they already know. Maintaining this level of confidence will more likely result in the student making efforts on their own and improving.
