Experience Summary
Even though I have been in the financial services field for over 16 years, I have tutored students both in college and after college. I was a volunteer freshman basketball coach at North Cambridge Catholic for 3 years. I was a volunteer tutor every Saturday morning for the Steppingstone Foundation where I mentored middle school and high school students. I currently work for Education, Inc. as a tutor for students who are unable to make it to school for a variety of reasons. I am a volunteer tutor at the Edwards Middle School and the Harvard/Kent Elementary school both located in Charlestown. I have tutored students in English, math, science, history, Spanish, etc.
Teaching Style
I have found that I have a passion for teaching children of all ages. For that reason, I am pursuing a career in teaching. I have taken the Communications and Literacy MTEL and will be taking the Elementary Math MTEL on May 9th of this year. I find the best way to help a student is to find out what they are passionate about. I find out about their likes and dislikes both in school and in life and try to gain their trust so they are more likely to be interested in getting tutored by me. I mix in some praise with some constructive criticism.
