Experience Summary
As a chemistry student at UNH, I was part of a chemistry tutoring program for three years, the last of which I co-organized the program. I have observed two years of chemistry lectures after taking the course myself. Other related courses I have taken include biology, biochemistry, quantitative analysis, and organic chemistry, among many advanced chemistry courses. My last semester at UNH, I took an intro to education course and observed a high school chemistry teacher. I helped the students solve problems, and I even taught a few lectures. I have written many extensive lab reports, and have an exceptional understanding of college level general chemistry, making me an ideal candidate to tutor an AP chemistry student, as well as introductory chemistry students.
Teaching Style
I believe that each student learns differently, and I like to approach concepts from different angles, in hopes of finding one that meets each student’s understanding. I am a very patient teacher and considerate of students’ frustrations, but I am also very diligent to keep their focus and motivation. I will instruct students and then test their abilities through problem solving, helping them to develop this very important skill. It is important for them to understand not only how to solve specific types of problems, but how to approach unfamiliar chemistry problems in the future.
