Experience Summary
Since my days as a graduate student, I love to learn, as both student and teacher. As teacher, I've taught Humanities at the Junior College level, teaching Fine Arts, Music, English literature and Philosophy. I've taught students to make connections, relationships, between what they see and hear. Sight and Sound, then, allow them to develop their thinking in ways that isolated thought or thought patterns preclude. I've learned the Humanities are wonderful resources for thinking, as they for developing 'intuitive imagination.'
In addition to classroom teaching, I've tutored students in their homes, in environments that support love and freedom, using Calvert's Home School Program. I've developed tutorial pilot programs for the US Army, developing recruits mastery of High School Math and English skills.
I love writing, research.
Teaching Style
I encourage students to relate among themselves, learn from one another. I listen to students for their knowledge and power. I learn from them, as they from me. I delight in lecture methods, as I do in smaller group situations, in which students team-up in groups of 4-5 and work through projects as a team. They then present their findings as a team. It's proven a remarkably powerful for students to produce results. I delight in team-teaching as well, both with other teachers and administrators.
I'm committed to 'selfless service' as teacher.
