Experience Summary
Prior to becoming a tutor and teacher I worked in the fields of Social Work and Counseling services for nearly 8 years. I began working in the field of education when I become the Center Director of a private education center and also oversaw all the centers curriculum and tutoring services. I have tutored in the following subject areas; Science, Math, Reading, and History. Additionally, I’m familiar with the Sunshine State Standards and the FCAT, as well as the SAT and ACT tests. In November of 2008 I began working for the Hillsborough County School District as a Science teacher grades 7-10.
Teaching Style
Currently, I work for an alternative school as a Science teacher and employ a multitude of methods to involve my students actively in class activities and academic content areas. Each of my students is at a different academic level and requires extensive redirection and individualized instruction techniques. I believe Science in particular needs to have a balanced mixture of traditional classroom instruction and hands on labs to be most effective and beneficial to student’s attempting to learn new concepts.
