Experience Summary
One year prior to my doctoral degree I began teaching at the University level. At the same time I was teaching as a substitute at the elementary, middle school, and high school level, while acting as Superintendent of the preschool education program at our church. Throughout my career I have chosen to work with organizations focused on collaborative scientific efforts across disciplines to discover cures for diseases, to understand the mechanisms behind those diseases in order to improve health and prevent disease, and that allowed me to continue teaching. My most recent position allowed me to accomplish all of these.
In addition, I have many years of coaching in sports to various age groups and mentoring with middle and high school students.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is diverse and dependent on the group with which I am working. I believe that different people learn in different ways, so I prefer to employ a wide variety of teaching methods in a group. With individuals, I tailor the teaching method to that individual's strengths. I believe strongly that anyone can learn any topic given the right instructional methods and enough time to process the information.
