Experience Summary
As a Licensed School Pyschologist and parent of two school aged children, I have come to understand how people learn things. I have a strong background in reading and writing and was published when I was in college. I have worked for many years with students who struggle with writing, and feel I am very effective in helping them make the connections between reading and writing in a meaningful way. Due to my background in psychology and counseling, I am well suited to work on motivational issued and learning resistance.
Teaching Style
All people can learn. My job is to be a coach and help students learn to take responsibility for their own learning. I feel it helps a great deal to allow students high levels of autonomy regarding what they choose to study. I will follow along with the student to the best of my ability by challening any assumptions he or she may have about a topic and encouraging higher level problem solving.
