Experience Summary
I worked as a laboratory assistant student supervisor in the Biology and Chemistry Laboratories of the Saint Leo University Mathematics and Sciences Department for two years. I was the liaison for professors and students, and I assisted professors and arranged for laboratory classes and held responsibility for students and University property. I helped students with various courses including Genetics, Zoology and Anatomy and Physiology. I demonstrated to students the use of standard laboratory apparatus such as the autoclave, colony counter, gel electrophoresis machine, thermal cycler (PCR machine), microscope, spectrophotometer, spectrometer, chemical fume hood, ph meter, refractometer, centrifuge, water baths, titration equipment, distillation equipment analytical balance. I was also the tutor for Physics in the Learning Resource Center of the University. While I attended high school, I tutored Mathematics, English, Science and Social Studies for four years.
Teaching Style
Teaching is a noble profession that has always been an important part of my life. Both my grandmother and mother taught. Teaching is trying to impart not only knowledge but a love of learning to the student. I motivate students to learn, and I also help them to defy the odds no matter their situation or ability. It is important to me to ensure that the student understands the subject matter at all times. Not all students are the same and so my style of teaching varies in order to make an impact on the student. I remain patient with students and respect them. As an educator, I work hard to guarantee my students success and encourage them to believe in themselves.
