Experience Summary
I have always had a passion for teaching and learning. I graduated from Wittenberg University with two BA degress- one in Early Childhood Education, and the other in Spanish. I taught first grade for two years in Virginia, and this past year have begun graduate work at the University of Minnesota. I will have an MA in Literacy Education, and an additional licensure in K-12 Reading. I have a passion to bring all children to the highest levels of literacy as I believe literacy is key factor in not only academic success, but in life. I have tutored children in reading when I was in college, and because I have worked with kids of all ages, I would be able to tutor older children as well.
Teaching Style
I am a firm believer that EVERY can learn and deserves the right to an excellent education. As an educator, I do anything that I can to meet the needs of all my students. I encourage critical thinking/reasoning skills, lively discussion, and many hands-on and engaging opportunities for my students. I believe that teaching should be culturally responsive in order to be motivating, engaging, and powerful for all students.
