Experience Summary
I graduated from Shippensburg University in 2006 with a BS in elementary education and a minor in Reading. During the 2006-2007 school year, I worked as a daily substitute and gained experience in all grade levels. Throughout the 2007-2008 school year, I worked as a long term substitute in a fifth grade classroom. I had the opportunity to teach all subjects to my class. While working at this school, I tutored a small group of students to prepare them for the PSSA (Pennsylvania's state assessment). During the beginning of the 2008 school year, I worked as a Title 1 Tutor. I worked with elementary students who struggled with Reading and/or Math.
I then moved from Pennsylvania to Florida in the beginning of 2009. Since then, I have transferred my teaching certificate and been working as a tutor.
I have worked at a Tutoring Center since May 2007.
Teaching Style
I have always loved working with children and seeing the ways that they can grow. I feel that each child has his/her own learning style and that the teacher needs to work around each learning style. I believe that positive reinforcement should always be given. I enjoy working with students in small groups or one-on-one. I hope that I can find a way to make each child succeed.
