Experience Summary
Prior to earning my J.D. from the University of California, Hastings and admittance to the California Bar in 2008, I received my B.A., Cum Laude, in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania in 2005. My experience at Penn as a writing tutor for two years, enabled me to assist both University and high school students with organizing, revising, and editing their writing assignments in a wide variety of subject areas. During law school I honed my legal writing while working for two Bay Area District Attorney offices where I wrote several motions.
Teaching Style
My time in the Ivy League and legal world has cemented a desire to help youth enter the professional sphere via strong academic performance. I am particularly interested in tutoring because it is, in my opinion, the process of making our future professionals. It is also a process by which I became a professional; one which I am grateful for and eager to give back. My teaching style is a step by step detail oriented process in which I ascertain the child’s needs, review her work independently, make detailed corrections/suggestions, and then discuss each revision with the child along with general rules of writing etiquette. I make drawings to demonstrate my points and create simple charts.
