Experience Summary
For 13 years, I have been teaching at Merryhill Schools at the 4th, 5th, and 4th/5th grade levels. As the designated Lead Teacher for 5 years, I was responsible for orientation and supervision of new teachers. In addition, I have privately tutored students in grades 3-7, with a main emphasis on Math. I have high expectations for my students, yet I have even higher standards of expectation from myself. I am well organized and excellent at detail. My classroom was recognized as the “model” classroom demonstrating the high standards of Nobel Learning Communities by the WASC Accreditation Team. I, personally, composed and established our “Expected School-Wide Learning Results” for WASC Accreditation for critical thinkers, effective communicators, life-long learners, and good citizens. In addition, I have been recognized for my incorporation of technology and Intrigue Projects for the 21st Century Learner successfully within the classroom.
Teaching Style
“Shoot for the moon…
Even if you miss you’ll land amongst the stars.”
I believe that there are no limitations to the amount of knowledge that a student can acquire. I have high expectations of each and every child, keeping in mind their own personal potential at all times. Private tutoring allows me the opportunity to do what I enjoy most in a more relaxed environment. I conduct my tutoring sessions in a demanding, yet nurturing atmosphere. I don't believe in busy work. I believe that through intense one-on-one guidance and practice a student can succeed in leaps and bounds. Each student's success, both personal and academic, truly is my greatest goal!!
