Experience Summary
0I have always loved working with children. While I was completing my undergraduate degree, I worked at a summer camp for children as a supervisor. After graduating with my BA degree in Communication, I worked in a public school in Massachusetts as a 1st grade Instructional Assistant to children with special needs. During my summers I tutored children who needed extra support. After completing my Masters degree in Elementary Education and passing all required Massachusetts' licensure tests and requirements, I moved to Florida where I taught both 2nd grade and special education. In my different positions I have learned how to work with children who have various learning styles. It is truly rewarding to see a child succeed in an area where there were previous difficulties. I am confident that I can meet the needs of children who are in need of additional support.
Teaching Style
I cannot recall a time in my life when I have not wanted to work with children. I am able to bridge the educational spectrum from children with learning disabilities to children who have been classified as gifted and talented. I've always approached my teaching career with the philosophy that I should treat children in my charge as I would want another teacher to treat my own children. If a teacher is going to be successful, they have to show patience, kindness, and be supportive. I possess all of these essential qualities. I know that children learn best through experience. I have the ability to make learning hands on and fun, while at the same time fully implementing sound, educational practices.
