Experience Summary
I have taught high school English at SouthWest Edgecombe High School for the past two years. In addition to teaching the writing test to tenth grade students there, I also taught eleventh and twelfth graders. During the past three months, I have been working at South Central High School in Greenville as a long term substitute while waiting to move to Raleigh. There, I worked with students preparing for the SAT and in creative writing. I have tutored students in all subjects I teach, and throughout my college career, I tutored students in middle school language arts classes.
Teaching Style
I believe that all students have the ability to learn. The key is that all students learn in different ways. I believe in working through different approaches (hands-on, visual, creative, etc) until finding the one(s) that work for each individual child. I am patient and considerate of student needs. My goal is to make a difference in students' lives so they realize that education is actually not a burden but something that gives them freedom.
