Experience Summary
I have been a high school teacher of Latin and ancient Greek, for three school years, and I spent an additional school year as a high school librarian and study skills course teacher. I also have a year of college Latin instruction experience, and a year as a TA for an ancient history professor. Over the years, I have had at least three permanent clients as a tutor, working with ancient Greek, Latin, and German, and I have done other ad hoc tutoring and professional translation work.
Teaching Style
I teach to a mastery learning approach appropriate for language instruction. I present the material first in accordance with the text presentation, and then drill and quiz to ascertain the level of comprehension over the next several days. I ask all students to answer sample questions, and I am looking to see who does not understand what, and why. When deficiencies are discovered, I represent material in as many different ways as are ultimately needed to ensure comprehension and success.
