About Me

Experience Summary

During my formal college education I acquired a very broad knowledge base in the sciences and social sciences. I have 7 years experience as a professional Museum Science Educator, and several years of informal tutoring experience. As Senior Science Educator at the South Florida Science Museum, I regularly developed new programs and curriculum in a variety of sciences, and taught thousands of students of all ages and backgrounds in hundreds of schools and classrooms throughout South Florida. I have also delivered several Adult Lectures and credited Teacher In-Services. I have professionally instructed Palm Beach County Middle and High School teachers in both Paleontology and Archaeology. I have informally tutored college students in basic Spanish as well as in writing research papers. I would be very comfortable tutoring all ages in science, reading, writing, social studies, introductory Spanish, and SAT level math (basic algebra and geometry).

Teaching Style

I have a passion for teaching and have built a career of making learning fun, hands-on, and accessible to students of all ages. Every student is different, and I am very good at evaluating a student’s individual needs and tailoring my teaching style to suite him or her. I believe that it is essential to not only teach subject matter, but also to instill in students a love of learning as well as the confidence that they can learn anything if they really try. I take every opportunity to make learning hands-on and interactive. Applying subject matter to current events and students’ lives is essential to their development and appreciation of learning. My overall goal is to be a positive influence in every student’s personal and educational development.
