Experience Summary
Having studied German for nine years, my interest in and understanding of language has definitely grown. Learning different languages has always been a fun and rewarding pastime for me, and it is even more fun and rewarding to help others gain proficiency in a language. This teaching and learning, as well as a number of courses on language acquisition, has really helped me to understand the most difficult problems when learning a language, and the most effective ways to overcome these problems.
Teaching Style
I believe that, when learning a language, the most important thing for a student is that they feel comfortable enough to have confidence to speak. This confidence can only be reached in a relaxed environment where the student does not feel judged or threatened. Therefore I make it a priority to communicate with the student and be flexible enough to work best with them.
Another vital factor in learning language is that the student is interested. Therefore, my lessons are not just filled with boring explanations and impossible problems, but I give the student interesting facts and plenty of opportunity to see the progress they make.
