Experience Summary
A recent college graduate, completing my MS in Chemistry in 2008, specializing in Organic Chemistry. Along with my MS degree I also completed my BS in Biology in 2003 with a minor in Zoology. With both degrees came extensive studies in math and many of the major sciences. During my MS degree I was required to teach chemistry lab classes as well as intro level chemistry courses. I have two years of teaching intro chemistry and one year of organic chemistry courses. I have excellent grammatical skills from years of writing research reports and laboratory papers, was the College of Science award winner for grant proposal writing and have three years of independent lab research experience. During my schooling I was required to hold office hours in which I tutored students on the subject matter from the course and labs I was teaching.
Teaching Style
During my MS degree, my favorite part of the experience was teaching laboratories and courses. The interaction with the students was very rewarding. I really enjoyed the opportunity to make a difference in their educational experience. I relate very well with young students and I feel that this gives me a great advantage in being able to teach them effectively. My goal as a teacher is to give the best educational experience and to provide the students with the necessary tools to be successful in the classroom. I have a very adaptive teaching style, feeling that all students learn in a different matter. With this in mind it is very important to find the best way to reach the student by discussing with them their concerns with the subject matter and with this knowledge creating a learning platform to best fit their needs. With proper teaching all students are capable of being successful in the classroom.
