Experience Summary
Prior to receiving my BA in Music, I worked for over twenty years in the medical and pharmaceutical field as a medical transcriptionist, medical biller/coder and pharmaceutical technician. I attended many courses to obtain a medical transcription license and pharmaceutical technician license in California. During my early college years, I tutored music students at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill, CA and math students. I made a decision to return back to college to pursue a degree.
I graduated from the University of New Mexico with a BA in Music in 2007. I obtained a licensure to teach Music/K-8 in New Mexico. While attending college, I ran my own home music studio. I enjoyed working with students one-on-one. I recently relocated back to California and am excited to work with students addressing their academic needs. I have experience working with music and math students of all ages in and out of the classroom.
Teaching Style
I believe children need to feel success in the classroom. Making a mistake is not necessarily bad. Sometimes making a ton of mistakes is the route to understanding. Repetition is necessary to building strong skills. I try to create a positive environment for learning, stress free. I'm an upbeat individual who's highly motivated to working with students of all ages.
