Experience Summary
After graduating with a Masters of Arts in mathematics I taught math, computer science and natural science. After 21 years in the school system I have a deep understanding of how students learn math. I am a doctoral candidate at Boise State University where I am pursuing a degree in curriculum and instruction. Currently I work as a private math tutor. I have a deep passion for education and understand the power it gives an individual. I understand how to pre-asses, determine needs and present a student with the knowledge to "fill the gaps."
Teaching Style
My style of teaching is one of respect, consideration and empathy towards my students. I believe ALL students can learn math. I strive to make math relivate to their lives with an emphasis of importance of doing their best. As a tutor I can get to know my students and work to encourge their strengths. I hope to instill confidence in them and reduce the fear of failure.
