During the last three years, I have mentored students in English, Mathematics, Reading Comprehension, Arts & Crafts, and Conflict Management. I have recently been teaching three Reach Programs to a group of 4-6th graders at El Dorado Elementary School. I was also a Teacher's Assistant for SUSD Jose Valdes Summer Math Institute since last summer. My main job was a Lead Tutor, promoted to Facilitator, for Grunsky's E.S. After-School Program. My
overall GPA from SJDC and UOP was 3.29 and 3.79 in High School.
Teaching Style
I feel an awe-inspiring sense of wonder when I see that children fully understand what they have learned. Nowadays, there is an abundant amount of underprivileged children, who need the extra care, since being in a classroom or at home may not give the child enough attention and aid. Therefore, I want to be able to help as much as I can by not only being a role model, but reassuring that they "can do it" and go far in life. A child has the capability to absorb like a sponge and make room for growth; not only academically but socially, spiritually, and psychologically. Nevertheless, a well-rounded tutor is authoritative and professional, with a sense of humor. I believe students will successfully learn and be motivated in a safe and friendly environment; thus, achieving higher test scores.
