Experience Summary
I am currently a third year student in Civil Engineering at the University of Florida. After earning my B.S., I intend to continue my education to graduate school specializing in Structures. I have earned my AA in General Studies at Valencia Community Collge in Orlnado with an Honors Degree. There not only I have gained credits preparing me for Enginnering but I have also enriched my tutoring skills. I have tutored at the college level there for a year on a daily basis (2006-2007). At the same time, I have also gained experience in working with children while volunteering as a tutor at elementary schools. These duties were not the first as atutor, for i have taught at an Adult Education program sponsored by the Haitian Government when i lived there in (2002-2003) while i was a High School student.
I have gained experience in tutoring diverse students of various age groups during six years in French, Spanish, Haitian Creole, Mathematics , Reading and English. I am willing to extend my experience in more areas.
Teaching Style
I come from a family that gives education the first place. I have always earned good grades in school. I believe that all students can achieve the same. I understand that not everyone can perform similarly in a classroom setting because each student has his own learning style. While tutoring, I patiently take time to understand the student and adapt to his learning pace. I am creative while teaching and am concerned that at the end of a tutoring session my student acquires understanding of the material. I will create ways to facilitate the child's understanding and focus on a subject. I have always enjoyed helping people in general and have felt really gratified whenever I realize that I have contributed to a struggling student's progress.
