Experience Summary
I am currently working with the Lee County School district as reading tutor. I tutor elementary and middle school. Prior to this I taught freshmen orientation (freshmen skills) to freshmen with the City University Of New York (CUNY) at Hostos Community College. as a professor I have assisted my students with writing skills. In addition I was in charge of the probation students and have assisted them with their poor writing skills. I was a Mentor and helped my mentees with English deficiencies. Although I was not employed as a tutor, as a student advocate, I have always "tutored" students who needed this assistance to remain in good academic standing. As a mother of two college students, one in middle and one high school I am constantly "tutoring".
Teaching Style
As an educator, I know that in teaching "one learning style does not fit all" hence, one teaching style does not fit all.I have experience with my own children as they go through the education system. I provide theory but I also allow the students to engage in "hands on" learning. I encourage classroom discussion an provide constructive feed back to enable students to learn and grow from their mistakes. I aim to empower students to take an active role in their education thus they are able to see the value of learning. I am motivator, I am patient, fair but firm and I let my student see my love for education and my admiration for their decision to pursue their educational goal. I let them know that with hard work and determination they will succeed.
