Experience Summary
From an early age, I had a natural ability in math, science and writing. I took many AP courses in high school, and earned excellent grades on the various standardized tests. I have both a BS and MS in electrical engineering. At Mercer, I minored in Christianity and Math. Not only did I excel in the advanced math and science courses, but also in technical writing and writing and analysis for the Christianity minor. I tutored kids in high school and lectured and tutored as a graduate teaching assistant.
Teaching Style
I prefer to help students learn by guiding them to the solution of a problem. I have seen that they learn best when they themselves are doing the work, and are encouraged to try their own solutions. Sometimes an error is more enlightening in the learning process than no errors and simply being told what to do. In most cases, students need only to be nudged in the right direction, and when I tutor I try to develop in students an approach that will allow them to work independently and successfully.
