Experience Summary
I am currently a Special Education teacher in Charlotte, North Carolina. I earned a bachelors degree in Political Science with very different career plans prior to completing a post baccalaureate program in Special Education. I also have a master’s degree in Divergent Learning, which is geared towards at-risk and adult learners. Prior to teaching students who are learning disabled in reading, writing, and math, I taught behaviorally/emotionally disabled students. I also tutor at a local learning/enrichment center and have for the past 6 years. I have witnessed students improve academically and behaviorally through consistent, intense instruction.
Teaching Style
As I continue this road as I educator, I feel that it is my duty to help each student that I encounter. I have strong communication skills that are necessary when working with children and adults. I am able to present materials and new learning in a non-threatening manner, I am able to maintain organization, and I am a good listener. All of these traits are important when dealing with learners. I enjoy research as I pride myself on staying up to date on the latest trends and research in education and can apply this knowledge while working with students. I believe that all students can learn despite their ability levels if given the proper guidance and support.
