Experience Summary
In college I was involved in various groups and activities. Being a member of numerous sports teams, we would tutor the local elementary and high school children. When I wasn’t in season I still continued this as a way to broaden my horizons. I have tutored elementary, high school and university levels. I have been active in numerous sports camps for children in which I was able to lead and teach them ways to better themselves. I’m a firm believer in confidence and that if you can teach a child to be confident in what they do, there is no end to what they can accomplish.
Teaching Style
I enjoy working with people and helping them better themselves. I had a hard time learning to read when I was younger and I was blessed to have a great tutor to overcome my problems. I will never forget the passion and dedication that she showed me when no one else would. I remember that experience while I'm helping others to overcome their problems. My approach to tutoring is to help them understand everything before moving onto the next lesson. I feel that you need to have a strong base and foundation if you are to learn. My motto is, “Teach them how to fish, not catch the fish for them.” This way they will have the tools to do it themselves for the rest of their lives.
