Experience Summary
I have always loved to teach, and loved to travel and meet new people. This led to traveling for a summer during college to Mexico City, living with a Spanish-speaking family. I also spent twelve weeks in West Africa teaching ESL and speaking French before my senior year at OBU. After graduation, I lived in Northern California (where I had also spent a summer during college), teaching ESL to adult Mexican immigrants, tutoring middle-school Korean students, and spending one summer in Southeast Asia while earning a Masters and TESL certificate. I now confidently teach ESL writing and grammar at a community college, as well as tutor children in ESL for a local public school. I also home school an advanced first grader.
Teaching Style
I am a highly-motivated, high-energy, personable teacher with multiple international teaching experiences. I possess talent for making the classroom fun and entertaining, with a passion for cultural harmony and teaching students to appreciate their own culture and language as well as being confident in American English. I am confident with people of all backgrounds and knowledgeable about all aspects of social studies. I have a deep appreciation for grammar, communication styles, the written word and the power of speech. I also love to insert history into every lesson.
